The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named Jonathan Swift of Insurance Post as the 2023 BIBA Journalist of the Year at its annual Journalist & Media Awards.
Steve White, BIBA CEO presented Jonathan Swift with the Journalist of the Year trophy in the 41st year of the association’s prestigious awards that recognise the work the media does to increase the understanding of insurance and insurance broking.
Congratulating Jonathan, White said: “Over many years writing on insurance he has championed causes, interviewed the great and the good and written on complex and entertaining matters.”
He continued: “This year he won the Best Digital and Broadcast Award – while managing two publications. He is also the first person in the history of our awards to be name the BIBA Journalist of the Year twice. He first gained the title in 2006 for his thorough understanding of the industry and his significant contribution to furthering understanding of the subjects covered. 17 years later, that still rings true today.”
The Publication of the Year was awarded to Insurance Times, and this year a Lifetime achievement was made to broadcaster and journalist Paul Lewis, famous for Radio 4’s Moneybox. Speaking about the award BIBA Executive Director, Graeme Trudgill commented: “This year we wanted to recognise someone that is not afraid of raising difficult issues and who understands the complex nuances of insurance and who over many years has been passionate about highlighting insurance matters that consumers need to think about. Paul Lewis is well deserving of this award.”
