The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named Carl Evans as the winner of its 2026 Francis Perkins Award.
Francis Perkins, the first Chair of BIBA, instigated the award to give recognition to members of the Association who give their time and energy to promote the causes of the insurance broking sector.
The judges selected Carl because of his commitment and contribution to BIBA and the wider insurance industry. He was a member and Chair of BIBA’s Larger Brokers’ Advisory Board. He was also a member of BIBA’s Insurance Brokers’ Standard Committee and most recently he served as a director on BIBA’s main Board.
As CEO of one of BIBA’s Accredited Brokers’ Professional Indemnity providers he made himself available to provide expert opinion on this vital topic for the benefit of all BIBA members. He also played a pivotal role in shaping BIBA’s response to the cladding crisis, working closely with government on how to speed the pace of remediation and make tall buildings safe.
Graeme Trudgill, BIBA Chief Executive said: “Carl has dedicated an incredible amount of time to BIBA, leaving the Boards and Committees he was part of in great health. Carl helped shape our Manifestos and supported us to progress our agenda for reform with Government. He is a selfless professional, admired by his peers and he leaves an enormous legacy to the wider industry”.
“At the end of his career he oversaw the publication of ‘Constructing Change’ which is a powerful call to action for reform of the construction industry to ensure that it is prepared for the challenges ahead. He will be missed.”
