Care home designated settings to benefit from continued support. Government had extended its indemnity support scheme for care home operators that provide designated settings to receive people discharged from hospital with a positive COVID-19 test until March 2022.

This welcome news comes as part of wider financial support package to help social care through the winter and more details can be found in the Government press release issued yesterday evening.

As per previous extensions, this offers  continued support for these vital care home designated settings, and, subject to local capacity needs, will benefit current participants in the Designated Settings Indemnity Scheme (DSIS), as well as any additional settings who may wish to apply for the support. This includes any settings which have been previously been offered indemnity support under DSIS and have since been de-commissioned.  However settings will need to make a further application which is agreed with all relevant local contacts as per the existing guidance.

Applicants will continue to be assessed against the criteria for inclusion, and this includes a requirement to secure the support of the local system ahead of an application being formally submitted.

Government will be updating the Q&As on NHS Resolution’s website very shortly where more detail is available.
