Jill, 70, and her husband, 71, booked the holiday of a lifetime, costing £13,000 each, for a visit to Paris, a journey on the Orient Express to Venice, followed by a cruise to Croatia, Greece and Italy. The trip was booked in celebration of their recovery after a period of ill health which included a stomach operation for Jill’s husband, plus a hospital stay for Jill following a collapse, and subsequent treatment for an infection and leg ulcer.
Jill struggled to find insurance due to a combination of the high value of the trip, their age, plus their pre-existing medical conditions. Jill explained: “After a bad year, the value of our holiday of a lifetime is above the level of cover provided on standard insurance policies.
Our normal provider was unable to find cover for more than £10,000 per person so they recommended BIBA’s Find Insurance Service. BIBA found two specialist brokers, Staysure to cover us to the value of £10,000 and PJ Hayman to arrange a top up policy.
We’ve never done anything like this before. It’s a big step for us, and without adequate insurance neither of us would have felt comfortable. The lady from the BIBA service was very clear, kind and patient with us.”
