22nd April 2015

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has become an official supporter of the Inclusion@Lloyd’s initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in the Lloyd’s & London market.  Steve White, BIBA’s Chief Executive, has signed the Lloyd’s Diversity and Inclusion Charter, committing the trade association to helping create a more diverse workforce and inclusive business culture.

As part of the Charter, BIBA has committed to championing diversity and inclusion, raise awareness and promote diversity within the wider market and support the initiative and implementation of the Charter.

Steve White, BIBA’s Chief Executive, said: “BIBA is fully committed to this important Charter. We support the Lloyd’s and London market on this and will encourage our members to engage wherever possible. We applaud Lloyd’s and the LMA for the initiative and are keen to see it develop.”

Marsh’s CEO for its UK Commercial and Consumer business, Julie Page, a Director of BIBA and a member of the Inclusion@Lloyd’s Group, said: “The Charter is a key first step for Inclusion@Lloyd’s and it has been welcomed across the wide spectrum of organisations operating within Lloyd’s and the London market.  I am delighted that BIBA joins the signatories of the Charter.  BIBA’s commitment will help increase the range of awareness and engagement in an area which represents a real opportunity for our industry.”

The Charter forms part of the wider Inclusion@Lloyd’s objective, aimed at embedding diversity in day-to-day business practice, creating a successful market, strengthening Lloyd’s role in the global insurance marketplace and delivering tangible bottom line results. To date, almost the entire Lloyd’s market of 93 Lloyd’s syndicates and the fifteen largest brokers have signed up to support the initiative.
