Digital communications specialist

If you are seeking a next step in Digital Communications we have a vacancy. BIBA is the membership organisation for, and the voice of the UK general insurance brokers’ sector. We represent and promote the interests of insurance brokers and their customers. We work with Government and the insurance industry and other stakeholders, to promote the role of brokers and to enhance access to insurance for consumers and businesses. We are seeking a Digital Communications Specialist.

Job summary

The role of the Digital Communications Specialist is an integral part of our small but busy communications team and will support BIBA in promoting the role of insurance brokers and on communicating other matters that impact insurance brokers and their customers to help deliver the organisation’s strategic goals.

You will have responsibility for BIBA’s digital presence, including email, social media, video, and website. You will also provide support on other communications and BIBA projects, ultimately driving an integrated communications strategy. In addition, you will be BIBA’s  brand identity guardian.

The role includes creating visuals to support all of BIBA communications to brand, the use and development of the BIBA website, social media channels and email as well as digital asset creation and application for the annual BIBA Conference. The primary aim is to promote insurance brokers, educate and inform members and engage with other stakeholders in professional and regulatory bodies, Government and others. Working with the membership team the job holder will also help promote and drive traffic to our Find-Insurance online search facility.

BIBA has a desire to attract and retain young talent in the insurance broking sector and this role will work closely with the commercial and membership teams to further drive momentum behind this initiative strengthening its brand identity and engagement.

Key skills/attributes

  • Ability to understand complex issues and communicate them effectively across multiple channels including written, video, animations, websites and social media.
  • Tech-savvy and a self-motivated, completer-finisher with a desire to learn on the job with an eye for design and attention to detail.
  • Technical knowledge in a communications context. This will include databases, content management systems especially WordPress, email marketing tools including Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop In Design and Illustrator), video and digital asset creation and editing, animations etc.).
  • Experience of corporate, B2B social media planning, creation and execution (Twitter/Linked In/ You Tube, Facebook etc.).
  • Experience of using WordPress or similar CMS and Sprout Social
  • Google analytics interpretation, social media monitoring/analytics experience and ability to apply this to improve wider comms activity.
  • SEO (natural search) skills to enhance website visibility.
  • Some coding or knowledge of web development tools would be useful.
  • Some ability in copywriting, editing and proofing preferred.
  • Experience in reaching or extending reach of audiences through digital channels is preferred.
  • Video/photography skills/interest preferred.
  • Experience of working with agencies and stakeholders on projects and particularly to build or improve a website would be useful for the role, but not essential.

Key roles and responsibilities

  1. Promote BIBA through imaginative yet brand compliant creation of compelling graphics, video, animated and written content for social media, email, web and videos campaigns.
  2. Enhance the visibility and consistency of BIBA messages across all channels and departments to increase engagement – including re-purposing content, regular posting to, and conversations on Linked In, Facebook and Twitter, as well as BIBA websites and publications.
  3. Use of analytics to improve our social media and digital presence.
  4. Update, manage and further develop the BIBA website (currently in WordPress with some Drupal CMS).
  5. Support the BIBA Conference team with digital assets, social media and website.
  6. Support the creation and production of member materials.
  7. Work with other BIBA teams to promote the young broker initiative.
  8. Provide support for wider BIBA communications, events, projects and initiatives, and other ad hoc duties as required.
  9. Act as a brand guardian ensuring all assets are brand compliant and monitor usage by external stakeholders

ESSENTIAL

  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Cloud (especially In Design, Illustrator, Premier Pros and After Effects).
  • Creative and innovative with design flair and attention to detail.
  • Experience using a CMS to maintain and update websites.
  • Experience in social media for business and or digital marketing.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal diplomacy and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

DESIRABLE

  • Understanding of digital best practice principles, including the importance of user experience and relevant content.
  • Understanding of GDPR requirements.
  • Experience of working in a small organisation.
  • Experience in video editing and creation.
  • Experience writing for the web and knowledge of best practice.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS TBA

  • Job type: permanent, 35 hours per week.
  • Salary: Dependent on experience.
  • Office based – central London (EC3A).
  • Company pension scheme and interest free season ticket loan (after qualifying period).
  • Annual leave of 23 days plus bank holidays and office closures.
  • Notice period: three months.
