We have a communications vacancy. If you are interested in communications and highly organised this might be the opportunity to develop your skills.  Due to maternity leave we are seeking someone for 12 to 14 months to support our communications team as Communications Assistant.

BIBA’s small, busy communications team seeks a flexible, enthusiastic person with strong project management and organisational skills and passion for effective communications.

Position Description

BIBA is the membership organisation for, and the voice of the UK general insurance brokers’ sector. We represent and promote the interests of insurance brokers and their customers. We work with Government and the insurance industry and other stakeholders, to promote the role of brokers and to enhance access to insurance for consumers and businesses.

The BIBA communications team is responsible for BIBA’s brand, for external corporate communications including publications, web and social media, and for all press and media relations. We also work actively with the BIBA policy team to engage with Government on key issues.  Our primary functions are to support our insurance broker members and to promote as widely as possible the benefits of using an insurance broker.

In this role you will be responsible for project managing key team operations and for executing regular member communications including our weekly member update and all website posts.

This is a key supporting role with the opportunity to contribute new ideas and learn new skills. During the period of the contract we expect to completely refresh our website which will involve you in complex organisation as well interaction with the whole BIBA team and some of our members.

Key roles and responsibilities

  1. To coordinate all activity within the Communications Department and support the Executive Director and Head of Communications.
  2. To create and issue regular member update emails and monitor response rates and bounces.
  3. To liaise with commercial team on promoting BIBA schemes facilities and services.
  4. To coordinate media responses and log enquiries.
  5. To project manage the production of BIBA publications as required.
  6. To manage the team’s invoice payment and budget recording process.
  7. Support the wider Policy Team as required.

Key skills/attributes

– Ability to organise and plan to tight deadlines with appropriate flexibility where necessary

– Experience with marketing email systems and web content management systems

– Confidence in chasing and managing responses from various internal and external stakeholders

– Attention to detail is essential

– An eye for design is useful

– Good use of English with some ability in copywriting, editing and proofing preferred

– Team player

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Job type: temporary 12-14 months, 35 hours per week
  • Salary: Dependent on experience with completion bonus
  • Office based – central London (EC3A)
  • Company pension scheme and interest free season ticket loan (after qualifying period)
  • Annual leave of 23 days pa plus bank holidays and office closures.
  • Notice period: two months
