The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named George Faulkner, Managing Director of Merlin Insurance; and Jack Briggs, Senior Commercial Account Executive of KGJ Insurance Group, as the two Young Brokers of the Year 2026.

The judges chose to recognise two winners this year, reflecting the exceptional calibre of candidates and the outstanding achievements demonstrated across the field.

Christopher Ojutalayo, Commercial Insurance Associate – Management Liability of Lockton Companies LLP, received the highly commended award from a shortlist of extremely high-quality applicants.

The award recognises the performance, contribution and future potential of younger brokers and encourages commitment to the future professionalism of insurance broking.

Speaking about the winners BIBA Chief Executive, Graeme Trudgill said: “George is an outstanding role model for the next generation of insurance professionals. His ability to spot opportunity, take considered risks and turn ambition into real impact sets him apart as a true leader of the future.”

He continued: “Jack has shown exceptional passion not only for his own successful broking career but also for the wider industry. He consistently goes above and beyond by supporting young apprentices from low‑income backgrounds, mentoring them into full‑time roles and helping them build meaningful futures.”

Graeme concluded: “Congratulations to Chris on receiving the highly commended award. He stood out for a purpose that goes beyond personal success – a clear drive to open doors for the next generation entering our industry.”

The Oliver Rose BIBA Young Broker Award is judged by a range of independent insurance professionals and recognises the career progression, sector participation, professional education and development of BIBA member brokers aged 35 years or younger. The award was renamed in the memory of the late Oliver Rose, who sadly passed away in March 2023. Oliver was the BIBA Young Broker of the Year in 2016 and made some great contributions to our sector and his employer.
