Judges Bio’s:
Michelle Taylor,
Aviva UK & Ireland
Michelle returned to Aviva in December 2023 as Director of Strategic Accounts , Michelle broadened her responsibility in September 2024 to look after the Regional Sales & Distribution accountability across the UK, including Club 110, her role also includes New Business and Bid Management.
Michelle has spent 35 years in the insurance in a variety of roles across the UK. Michelle started her career at Commercial Union (now Aviva) , working across Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Digital Trading, Partnerships and Regional Trading Leadership roles. Latterly in her career she has held senior Sales and Distribution Leadership roles, in RSA and Zurich and most recently returned to Aviva as Broker Distribution Director.

Nick Hobbs,
Allianz Commercial
As of 1stJuly Nick is the former Chief Distribution Officer for Allianz Commercial in the UK and former Chair and Managing Director of Allianz Engineering Inspection Services. He has been with Allianz for over 25 years in various trading, distribution, operations and leadership roles in North America, the UK and Europe in Retail, Commercial/Corporate and Specialty markets. Nick is also a Board Member of the International Underwriting Association (IUA). He is passionate about professionalism and supporting professionalism and progression in the insurance profession (!).
Outside work Nick is a competitive kayaker and canoeist, and an extreme gardener with a penchant for ferns and hostas. He is also an avid reader of press and magazine articles and likes to be amused, surprised and enriched by what he reads. This judging exercise suited him perfectly…

Sarah Chadburn,
One Call Insurance Services Limited
Executive Director for One Call Insurance Services Limited and the One Call Group, with over 25 (closer to 30) years’ insurance experience, she brings a wealth of expertise to her roles in broking, insurer and claims. Sarah is a well-respected, vital member of the One Call Group with a proven history of increasing productivity and embracing demanding situations. Sarah has a keen eye and passion for customer experience, policyholder protection and industry best practice. Other roles include BIBA Yorkshire & Northern Regional committee Chair.

Alistair Fraser,
Marsh
Alistair is responsible for Marsh’s Mid Market business across its International Division. He is a member of the International Executive Committee.
He has 30+ years experience in the industry. Alistair has held various roles including CEO of the UK Corporate & Commercial business, Head of Sales for Asia and also CEO for Marsh in Indonesia.
Alistair is a Board member of BIBA and Chair of the Large Broker Advisory Board
Alistair holds a degree from UWE, Bristol, and is CII qualified

Catherine Marshall,
Lloyd’s
Catherine is Director of Syndicate Performance and Claims. She leads the Syndicate Performance team, the Lloyd’s Pricing Actuaries and the Claims team. She is responsible for overseeing the sustainable underwriting performance of syndicates operating in the Lloyd’s market.
Catherine joined the Corporation of Lloyd’s in 2022 having been part of the Lloyd’s market since 2000. She has been an underwriter and held positions leading underwriting performance, operations and management teams. Before joining Lloyd’s she held SMF 16 and 17, heading up Compliance and Financial Crime functions. Catherine has experience working across both Lloyd’s managing agency and company market platforms.

Lisa Sturley,
Financial Conduct Author
Lisa is the Insurance Head of Department at the FCA, a role she has held for a number of years. Lisa’s responsibilities as a regulator also include with predecessor organisations including IMRO and the FSA where she was responsible for supervising a variety of sectors including investment management and deposit takers.
In her current role Lisa is responsible for the conduct and prudential supervision of around 6000 firms across the insurance sector, including retail and wholesale insurers and all brokers and intermediaries; this role has provided Lisa with a valuable insight into the sector and a wealth of knowledge on the issues firms face and the impact of regulation on both firms and consumers.
Prior to joining the FCA Lisa held regulatory oversight roles at RBS and Credit Suisse.

Ken Norgrove,
Intact Insurance, UK & International
Ken Norgrove has been the Chief Executive Officer of Intact Insurance UK (formerly known as RSA) since January 2022 following the acquisition of RSA by Intact Financial Corporation. Under Mr. Norgrove’s leadership, the business delivered its best financial results in a decade in 2024, building a stable platform for sustained profitability. Intact Insurance re-branded RSA in October 2025 with the ambition to become the UK’s best commercial insurer and grow the specialty lines business by leveraging Intact’s global footprint. Prior to January 2021, Mr. Norgrove was the CEO of RSA Scandinavia which was RSAs Insurance Group’s most profitable subsidiary at the time. Prior to leading RSA Scandinavia, Mr. Norgrove was the CEO of RSA Ireland, where he also led the very successful turnaround of that business from 2014 to 2019.

Iain Anderson,
Independent Non-Executive Director
Iain Anderson is a chair, investor and portfolio non-executive.
He is Independent Non-Executive Director of the British Insurance Brokers Association
He is a non-executive board member of the Department for Business and Trade, at Innovate Finance and the Court of the University of St Andrews.
He is chair of the John Smith Centre which supports young people in public life.
Iain was Founder and former Executive Chairman of H/Advisors Cicero. He has over 30 years’ experience as an entrepreneur, adviser, CEO and Board level counsel for some of the world’s leading business and not for profit organisations.
In 2024 Iain led an independent review – A New Partnership – exploring a long-term plan for how industry and Government can better collaborate together.
Iain served as the UK Government first LGBT+ Business Champion

Eddy Castles,
WTW
BACKGROUND:
Eddy joined WTW in 1981. Initially he worked in the UK division and was responsible for all aspects of client servicing on a number of National and Global clients. He then undertook extended secondments in Mexico & the USA, occupying senior management positions.
Currently leads WTW’s Retail Insurance Broking Business in the UK – the area responsible for servicing many of the UK’s largest and most complex companies, he is a Director of Willis Limited and is WTW’s representative for BIBA and a director on their board.

Caroline Barr,
BIBA Chair
Caroline has chaired the British Insurance Brokers’ Association since January 2026, following six years as its independent Non-Executive Director. She is also an iNED on the Board of the Equity Release Council and was, until recently, an iNED on the Board of BlackRock’s life company, BlackRock Life Ltd (BLL). An experienced committee chair, she has led BIBA’s access to insurance efforts, including as part of the Government’s financial inclusion strategy, she was the chair of BLL’s Investment Policy Committee, and has been a member of various Audit and Risk Committees. Earlier in her career, Caroline was an army officer, was trained in HR by Ford Motor Company, and worked in both retail and corporate banking. Later, she was a Deputy Director at HM Treasury and has been a member of the Financial Services Consumer Panel. Caroline spends her spare time playing tennis and the piano and supporting the music in her local church.

Michael Rea,
Gallagher UK & Ireland
Michael is the CEO of Gallagher’s UK Broking division. Appointed to this role in January 2024, Michael leads Gallagher’s 8,000-strong team of colleagues in its UK and Ireland based Retail, Specialty and Pen Underwriting divisions.
Prior to this Michael was CEO of UK Retail at Gallagher for 8 years where he oversaw a period of sustained organic growth and ongoing expansion through strategic M&A activity. Gallagher’s UK Retail division looks after the insurance needs of over one million commercial businesses and individuals.
Michael has over 30 years’ experience in the UK insurance sector following a career with Price Waterhouse in Dublin. Having held a number of finance roles with insurers, he led NIG as Chief Operating Officer and then Managing Director. There then followed 7 years in insurance broking as the Chief Executive of 2 of the top 25 broking businesses in the UK, before his move to Gallagher in 2015.

Emma Chapman,
BIBA Conference Director
Emma joined BIBA as Head of Conference in June 2021 having previously worked as Event Manager for The Campaign Partnership as part of the team organising BIBA’s annual Conference & Exhibition. She was promoted to Conference Director in August 2023 and at the same time joined BIBA’s main board.
Emma graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA in Drama and spent the next six years managing large-scale West End musicals and award shows. She has a wealth of experience in creating successful shows and is passionate about delivering a fantastic attendee experience.
