The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has announced that Jane Kielty, Head of Commercial Risk UK of Aon will become its Deputy Chair.

The main Board of BIBA is largely formed of members who serve for a maximum term of six years and simultaneously as chair of one of the association’s Advisory Boards.

Jane has been on the board since taking the Chair of BIBA’s Insurance Brokers’ Standards Committee in 2020 and steps into the shoes of Laura Hancock, Director of Yutree who has been a BIBA board member since 2017 and its Deputy Chair since 2019.

Jane is a great advocate of careers in broking and is a former BIBA Young Broker of the Year.  She has led the Standards Committee with great enthusiasm and purpose during a period of incredible change and is determined to help BIBA support its members regardless of their size or sector.

She said: “I was honoured to be asked to take up the position of Deputy Chair. I am as passionate as I ever was about insurance broking, and I hope in my new role I can continue to make a difference to BIBA members. Laura is a tough act to follow but I am looking forward to the challenge.”

BIBA Chief Executive, Steve White added: We are lucky to have Jane on the Board and she brings an enormous amount of experience to the table.  Laura has made a fantastic contribution in her five years on the Board and I am most grateful to her for all her support. This is farewell not goodbye as she will continue to work closely with us as one of our member scheme providers.”

Laura commented: “I am very proud of what BIBA has achieved over the last five years and I couldn’t be more pleased to have been a key part of it.”

Jane takes up her new position on 1 January 2023.
