Sir John Major and Karren Brady named as BIBA 2014 speakers

3rd February 2014

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named Sir John Major, Karren Brady, Lord Prescott, David Davis MP and Sir Ming Campbell MP as BIBA 2014’s keynote speakers.

BIBA 2014’s Conference and Exhibition has the theme ‘Customer… customer… customer…’ and takes place on 14-15 May at Manchester Central. It will be hosted by Channel 4 News anchor Jon Snow.

Karren Brady, Vice Chairman of West Ham FC, Lord Sugar’s Advisor on The Apprentice and a leading business speaker will address delegates on Wednesday 14 May and Sir John Major will close the conference the following day.

Opening the conference there will be a keynote debate on customers’ perceptions of insurance with Amanda Blanc, David Ross, Kevin Hancock and Paul Lewis. The session will look at ways of improving the industry’s customer service records. On Thursday a debate on ‘The Bigger Picture’ will provide brokers with insight into the year ahead from three senior politicians, Lord Prescott, Ming Campbell and David Davis.

Alongside the famous names, there will be plenty of experts from the insurance industry and the business world providing seminars on customer service and consumer behaviour, technological advances in motor cover and the latest on regulation.

Steve White, BIBA’s Chief Executive, said: “It’s highly likely that the image of insurance alongside other financial services has suffered since the banking crisis. So we’re going to dedicate the 2014 conference to improving our service levels and getting innovation back into product design and delivery.”
