George Nicol appointed as BIBA’s Motor Panel Chairman
21st March 2014
The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has appointed George Nicol, Branch Manager of Gallagher Bassett, as the new Chairman of its Motor Panel.
George succeeds Allan Briscoe, Technical Consultant at Aon, who retires after chairing the committee for ten years. George will lead the committee which represents the interests of BIBA members on matters relating to motor insurance.
George said: “I consider it an absolute honour and a privilege to take up the position as the new Chairman. Having been part of the committee for nearly nine years watching us grow both in stature and reputation, I feel proud that it has become recognised as a leading voice in the market. The committee has been admirably chaired by Allan, whom I totally respect for both his commitment and support.
I hope I can adequately fill his shoes in taking up the reins and continue to ensure that we represent the market’s interests with the same drive and professionalism we have become respected for.”
Allan, the outgoing Chairman, said: “It has been an honour and privilege to chair the Motor Panel and work with so many knowledgeable and talented people. All involved can be justifiably proud of what has been achieved on behalf of members and their clients and in establishing the panel as one of the foremost authorities on motor insurance issues. I am sure that the panel will go from strength to strength under George’s chairmanship.”
Steve White, BIBA’s Chief Executive, said: “The Motor Panel has been involved with a vast array of key issues under the leadership of Allan. They have tackled the cost of motor insurance including involvement with the Ministerial Summit, Transport Select Committee, Ministry of Justice to prevent fraudulent whiplash claims, DVLA MyLicence initiative, Department For Transport on young drivers, Government Equalities Office on signposting for older drivers, OFT investigation into the cost of motor insurance and the Competition Commission.
“We are delighted that George has agreed to become chairman of the Motor Panel. George has been on the committee for nearly nine years and with his experience and commitment will drive the committee forward and ensure that members’ views and interests are represented at the highest levels.”
