Welcome from the Greater Manchester Region Chairman Simon Carlon,
It is a huge honour to be able to represent such a prestigious region as Greater Manchester and West Pennine and together your committee will work to represent the views of its members, promote the growth of insurance broking in the region and deliver the BIBA Manifesto.
I have a lot to live up to in the wake of two fantastic past presidents, Kathy Berry and John Batty. I would like to take the opportunity to thank them for their tireless hard work and commitment.
As chair I see it as an opportunity to give something back to an industry which has given me and others countless opportunities.
During my 2-year tenure as Chair for the region one of the main focuses will be building on a current manifesto commitment to bring new talent into broking. In doing so we will be reaching out to schools’, colleges and universities to talk to young people and encourage them to consider a broking role in Insurance. If you are able to help us in this regard, we would welcome your input.
We will also work to build a greater relationship with our current cohort of young professionals by offering ‘soft skills’ support on Career development, social media and networking, all of which will be useful and transferable into your businesses.
The committee will continue to offer Knowledge days and scheme support and I would urge you to take advantage of the benefits of these provisions for both employee and business growth.
We will work to build a better profile for brokers in our Northern ‘flanks’ and I would urge all members to challenge us to deliver and promote our activities in your areas.
Regional BIBA members are encouraged to join the committee and we welcome any offer of support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
I look forward to working with you, and collectively making Greater Manchester and West Pennine the very best BIBA region we can.
