Welcome from East Midlands
I am extremely proud and honoured to have been elected as the regional chair for the East Midlands region for 2017, following in the footsteps of Grant Scott who has done a fantastic job over the past 6 years and whose excellent work I aim to continue.
As a regional committee we have four main focuses this year; 1) to grow and expand our membership committee through the addition of new members, 2) to provide regular and informative communications on pressing issues 3) to encourage our ever-expanding Young Brokers and 4) to continue to put on a varied, informative and enjoyable programme of events, both educational and social.
Why Not Join the Committee?
We are always looking for new people to join the committee so would love see fresh faces who are keen to get involved and join our small and friendly committee. As our levels of activity increase we need to continue to grow the number of willing members who provide time to plan, arrange and attend the range of events we put on – so if you are willing to help out I’d love to hear from you!
The BIBA manifesto for 2017 has now been issued, and with BIBA being the UK’s leading general insurance intermediary, representing the interest of insurance brokers, intermediaries and our customers, there are a vast range of issues being addressed that we want to keep you informed about both on a regional and national basis, so we will be increasing our communications to you to allow you to keep up to date with everything that is going on, as well as encouraging feedback.
Again, I would like to hear from you if there are any issues you may have that you would like raised – it is a particularly interesting, challenging and changing world in broking and we all need the help and support of our Trade Body to ensure that our voice is heard both within the UK and out of it.
Our Young Brokers are going from strength to strength. We have various lunch time seminars and networking events lined up, enabling them to learn and grow both personally and professionally.
We are also looking to work more closely with the Young Professionals from the Chartered Insurance Institute in 2017 in the promoting of our industry to the younger members.
Programme of Events
We have a range of events planned for 2017, ranging from educational lunch time seminars to compliance workshops to networking events, and not forgetting our extremely popular annual Golf Day – every event is always popular so make sure you book early to guarantee your place.
Finally, if there are any specific topics of interest, training requirements or access to facilities and events, I would encourage you to please let one of the committee or I know if there are services we can help provide, we are always open to suggestions about what BIBA can do for you and welcome your input.

I look forward to seeing you as future events.
