The General Insurance Brokers’ Committee represents the interests of the Association and BIBA
members in the general insurance business sector. The GIBC reports to the BIBA Board and addresses
all matters relating to general insurance that are brought before it.
Ian Dickinson - Chairman

Ian has been working within the insurance broking arena for the last 32 years. He has worked
with The Brunsdon Group for the last 25 years, having also been the MD of the group's Bristol
operation for 20 years.
He is currently Head of Compliance and Training with oversight for Projects and Integration.
A past BIBA regional chairman, Ian also sits on the BIBA Compliance Working Party and is a member of
the FSA Smaller Businesses Practitioner Panel.
David Perry

David originally trained at Sun Alliance as a Commercial Underwriter then spent time at Minets and CGA.
He spent 10 Years growing Warren Hill to six offices across the UK (winning a British Insurance Award for
Marketing Initiative of the Year along the way) before selling to Folgate in 2003. David was appointed
Regional Managing Director in Towergate controlling the Central Region 2005/2006 before taking on the role
of Head of Sales in Towergate during 2007. He was appointed Sales and Marketing Director at CCV in 2008.
David is a Past Chairman of the Insurance Institute of Worthing and West Sussex and has been actively involved
with BIBA for 10 years, the last two as Chairman of the South East Region, and currently as Chairman of the
General Insurance Brokers' Committee..
Paul Dickson

Paul, 53, is the Chief Executive of insurance broking and financial services firm, Dickson Insurance Brokers Ltd
which he founded in 1986. His insurance career started in 1973 at the National Coal Board's pension fund, CIN Properties.
Paul joined Lloyd's Broker Towry Law in 1977 and went on to become Divisional Director with responsibility for the Head
Office commercial department, looking after large national and multinational clients. Paul is a Fellow of the Chartered
Insurance Institute. He is also the Mail on Sunday's principal general insurance contributor for its widely read Ask the
Experts column. Dicksons provides corporate insurance, financial services, risk management and due diligence work, all for
the business insurance sector, and notably the technology and venture capital arena.
Derek Walker

Derek has been involved in the insurance industry since the early 1980's when he joined his
Fathers brokerage. Apart from a short spell when he joined Chesterfield FC as a professional football
player, he has been involved in broking ever since. In 1994 the family business merged with Pearson Insurance Consultants
and then in 2002 the Company joined forces with Clark Thomson Insurance Brokers Limited. Away from Insurance Derek is a keen
golfer, playing off a handicap of 7 and follows St Johnstone Football Club where he is a season ticket holder along with his
two children.
Kevin Hancock

Most of the first dozen years of Kevin's insurance career was spent with Provincial Insurance in various sales roles. Kevin
joined The Davis Group in 1998 and became Group Managing Director. The business subsequently became part of Venture Preference
(now Bluefin) in 2007. As a Regional Director for Bluefin, Kevin's main responsibility is for the continued development of all
aspects of the Newmarket & Dartford offices and he is also a member of a number of Group-wide review teams.
Kevin has been an active member of the regional BIBA committee for a number of years and was Regional Chairman of BIBA Anglia from 2005 to 2007.
Kevin has also had 3 years as Chairman of the Newmarket Business Association. The Association is a local business development and networking
association. NBA represents more than 100 outstanding local business organisations. Kevin is also an Honorary Commander of the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath.
Kevin lives near Newmarket and has two children and is a partner in Jemco Racing. He can often be found at one of the UK 's race
circuits as one of Jemco's regular drivers. The team finished 8 th overall in the Britcar 24 hour race at Silverstone in 2008.
Eamonn Browne

Eamonn has been in insurance since November 1972 when he became a trainee with Royal Insurance in Coventry , he is now an ACII.
In 1976 he joined Powell & Co, a primarily mortgage brokerage in Coventry . He became a partner in 1980 and later a Director in
1990 when the business change it's name to James & Brown (Insurance Brokers) Limited.
Eamonn has been involved with BIBA since 1979 and have worked with the West Midlands Region Committee since 1980 working as
Secretary. I have been an active member of the GIBC and BIBA Board. In 1996 I reformed the motor panel technical committee
and remain on the panel to this day.
In addition, I was greatly honoured to have been the recipient of BIBA's prestigious Francis Perkins Award.
Denis Morgan

Denis began his insurance career when he joined General Accident in Coventry in 1973.Denis began his insurance career when
he joined General Accident in Coventry in 1973. Since then he has worked in Birmingham , Perth , Ipswich, Bedford , Southampton,
London , Exeter and Plymouth , during which time he has held a range of technical, sales, and managerial positions.
In 2001 he founded broker co-operative, Nexus Group. In 2005 he joined Westinsure Group plc as Operations Director, and was
shortly afterwards appointed as Managing Director.
Following his exit from the Network arena in 2010, he became MD of Broker2Broker Online Underwriting (B2B). He is currently a
director of SMEi Group, which is the parent company of B2B, SME Insurance Services Ltd, and Software Underwriting Systems.
Denis also acts as a consultant to several other independent businesses within the insurance industry .
Denis has been a member of the CII since 1973 and is a past president of both the Insurance Institutes of Exeter and Plymouth .
He joined GIBC in 2007 as a co-opted member.
Denis now lives in Cornwall , is married, and has 3 daughters. He has 3 motorbikes, 2 Lambrettas, and a quad bike. His pastimes
have included flying microlights, as well as the odd bungee and parachute jump.
Chris Swain

Chris has worked in insurance since 1981 when he started as a trainee in General Accident Insurance.
He has held many positions in a managerial before joining Ingram Hawkins & Nock Insurance Brokers as a Senior Account Executive
and was appointed as a Director on 1 st May 2008.
Chris joined the BIBA West Midlands committee in 1997 as the appointed Dinner Secretary, a role which Chris still carries out today.
He was elected as Chairman in 2003 and in September 2008 was elected onto the General Insurance Brokers Committee (GIBC) representing
Brokers in the West Midlands region.
Chris is heavily involved with activities ranging from 6 months trekking, cycling and abseiling across the sand dunes of the Namibia
Desert to half marathons and has contributed in successfully raising over £15,000 from sponsorship.
Andrew Galway

Andrew began his career in Insurance in working for his father's business in Banbridge, Co. Down before progressing through McGuire
Insurance Brokers in Belfast , Bradstock Group, Coyle Hamilton and Alexander Forbes/Lockton before joining Marsh in Belfast in
2007 as an Assistant Vice President. His role in Marsh centres on business development in Belfast and in particular the Marsh
Transportation Industry Practice Team.
Andrew has been an active member of the Regional BIBA Committee for a number of years and originally held the position of Training
And Compliance Officer before becoming Northern Ireland 's Regional Chairman for 2007-2009.
Andrew is married to Sharon with two children, Joshua and Rebecca and is a fan of Manchester United.
Neil Grimshaw

Neil Grimshaw BA (Hons) ACII – Chartered Insurance Broker
Neil is the founder of Ravenhall Risk Solutions Ltd, Chartered Independent insurance brokers set up in 2006. Ravenhall now has
now grown into a a nationally recognised broking brand, with niche schemes for both wholesale and retail customers as well
controlling over £4M worth of Commercial and associated Personal lines business with an ever-growing book of clients. Since
Ravenhall was set up Neil has been awarded two Insurance Times awards for Brokers Broker and New Achiever in 2008, along with
Young Broker of the year at the UK broker awards in 2008 and BIBA young broker of the year in 2009.
Neil works closely with the chartered insurance institute in promoting careers in the industry and sits on the BIBA regional
committee in the Yorkshire and Northern Region as Media Officer.
Grant Scott

Grant started his career with Eagle Star in 1979. After a few years he moved to a regional broker as an Account Executive gaining
real work experience. He moved to London in the 80's to become City Inspector for Hibernian Insurance then moving to Ipswich to become Local Manager.
From there he joined Countrywide Insurance Marketing then was asked to join Policymaster to help start their new marketing initiative MasterPlan. After
a good number of years at this organisation he then went backed into broking now at Cowens Survival Capability. He is an ACII Chartered Insurance
Broker & past president of Leicester Insurance Institute. He is active both within CII & BIBA nationally & locally as East Midlands
Representative on GIBC.
Andrew Gibbons

Andrew has been working within the insurance industry for the last 24 years.
He served twelve years with AXA Insurance Group, originally as a Commercial Underwriter and latterly as a Senior Account Manager, prior to
joining Mason Owen Financial Services Ltd in October 1999. Andrew is the Managing Director of the Company and is as an associate of the
Chartered Insurance Institute and he guided the firm to be one of the first in the country to achieve Chartered status as a firm.
Andrew has been a past Chairman of the BIBA Regional Committee for Merseyside West Cheshire North Wales & Isle of Man Region and still serves on
the committee. He is currently Chairman of the Merseyside Youth Association Ltd, a charity that looks to create positive and lasting change to
the lives of young people in Merseyside. Andrew enjoys most sports and is a supporter and season ticket holder at Bolton Wanderers and at
Wigan Warriors rugby league team.
